Treatment

This little gem arrived in a dire state, most notably missing its handle.

To recreate the handle we sourced contemporary creamer examples and, consulting the client, selected one to copy.

Firstly, the handle was modelled in wax, then a mould was made and a resin cast taken. A couple of trials were needed to arrive at the correct colour. As we try to emulate the original layers, this cast needs to correspond to the "bisque" equivalent in an original porcelain piece. Over this, we apply a last layer of resin, slightly tinted to replicate the sheen and translucency of the "glaze".

The handle will feel warmer to touch than the original porcelain, but visually completing the object.
